Toluene, also referred as Toluol has a colorless appearance and is usually insoluble in water having paint thinner like odor. It is derived from benzene and is its mono substitute which consist of a CH3 group. This group involving carbon and hydrogen is attached to another phenyl group. The IUPAC name of Toluene is methylbenzene and acts as an aromatic hydrocarbon.
