Our offered Alcian Blue find usage for staining acidic polysaccharides including glycosaminoglycans in various body structures like cartilages. During electron and light microscopy, cationic dyes are used for such targets. The crystals of solid Alcian Blue may appear greenish-black or dark bluish violet in color with a metallic shine. However, the aqueous solution of the mentioned compound has a bright greenish blue color. Although this chemical compound is unstable, its staining is light fast, stable and soluble in water. It is highly soluble in salt solutions but the staining capability is quite slower in comparison with other dyes. In order to obtain characteristic staining patterns, pH level or concentrations of salt can be changed.
